Great site. I had been checking in on the postings from one of the general camp reunion sites. I cant wait to see who shows up. Summers at Pocono-Ramona were the best.
I was a counselor at Pocono Ramona in 1969 and 1970. I loved the camp. My brother is David Zellman and cousins Barbara, Eric and Paul. There were our cousins the Bermans. It was an unbelievable place.
This is a great site. All I can do is smile when I look at the pictures (and most of the time not remember names.) Keep those pictures coming!! June Swerdlin 67-72
Jay Wolin (known as Pumpernickle - a nickname given me by David Greenberg??) I attended camp the last 3-4 years the camp was open. My sister Rebecca went as well.
I think that I already signed in but I forgot my username and password - are they different from usernames and passwords for Google/Blogger because I don't have that either. Anyway, its Robyn Shuldman again and yes, that was me who spotted Kim Alexander, but I can't remember the name of the boy she's with. I hear there are px of Mark Alexander and I and Bradley and I, but I don't know how to get to them. I had a nice telephone conversation with both of them this week though. I'll just leave my e mail address and maybe you can tell me what to do. Thanks. Mamaroze05@aol.com (Robyn Shuldman)
Great waterfront pictures. I seem to remember that there was an old crumbling wooden stairway leading down to the waterfront starting from the upper campus just after Bunk 3 and winding down to the lower campus. You would see old cabins to your right at the end of this stairway, which is where the waiter staff resided. Going to the left would take you to the Delaware waterfront. In 1964, the camp purchased a motor boat and waterskiing equipment for use on the Delaware River. Mark Jonas was the waterfront instructor during this summer. You could pass your deep water test for the upper campus pool {presided over by Jerry Turner} at the waterfront or at poolside with Jerry. The test consisted of swimming two laps, diving to the bottom of the pool, and treading water with your index fingers poking out of the water for one to two minutes. I remember taking canoe trips from the waterfront to Bushkill Pa. and back. We would go to the local stationary store and cafe in Bushkill and buy new comic books and have lunch. We would also sometimes sleep over at a campsite halfway back to Pokono and come back to camp the next morning.
Mindy Broser Was at pocono ramonaa from 62-71? Some names sound farmiliar and some don't. Old age? Hopefully not. Would not miss the reunion, it will be great if alot of people show up. Hello to everyone I know. Had to be the best summers!
Went to Pokono from 1969-1973 and had great summers with memories that will last forever. Thank you Randy, this site is a great idea. Hello to all and how have you been these last 35 years or so?
Camp days were the best!! I think camp cost $425 for 8 full weeks--now its about 8K for 7 weeks. We had amazing times, lifelong friends, and learned about all kinds of things! I do feel old-cause I was there from '61 to '68, earlier than many who have posted messages. It's fun to try to remember....
It's Joyce Broser and I was there from 1961 to maybe 1968 or so - definitely was a great place to spend summers! Hope LOTS of you show up at the reunion - but will we recognize each other - it's close to 40 years since I've seen my fellow campers - OUCH!!!
I think I can tellyou who is in your most recent picture. It sure looks like me about 35 years ago. Probably greaser night 1972 or 73.
Randy, this webpage brings back so many memories. I was at Pokono-Ramona from about 1967 until it closed. I recognize so many "kids" in the pictures and the postings. Despite its awful food and pretty ordinary facilities, Pokono was great because of the people and friendships.
This page sent me rummaging around for old stuff and I found a color war packet from 1973 I will send on--- Maroon CIty Slickers vs. Grey Country Hicks. I kept it because I was Maroon General that year and I probably knew that was the last army I would ever lead. We did win by the way.
My email is southpawjlh@aol.com and would love to hear from old friends.
Hello to all my old friends from camp. Its great to be able to return to Pokono-Ramona in the new virtual version. The summers were so memorable because of the people who attended. To many of us those summers were during the wonder years of our life and experiences made an indelible mark on us. Thanks Randy for creating such a great web site.

SANDY ROTHSTEIN HI, THIS IS JUST ABOUT RELIVING MY PAST WHICH IS SO MUCH SWEETER THAN LIVING IN THE PRESENT. AFTER GOING TO MANY BUNGALOW COLONIES IN THE MID 50s, MY MOTHER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA FOR ME TO ATTEND SLEEP AWAY CAMP. SHE PAID APROX $450 FOR ME TO BE A JUNIOR COUNSELOR (1957-1960) HOWEVER, THE HEAD COUNSELOR IN MY BUNK WAS THE DRAMA COUNSELOR. I MORE OR LESS HAD EIGHT 7-8 YEAR OLDS ON MY OWN ALL DAY AT THE AGE OF 14. I REMEMBER CHECKING MYSELF INTO THE INFIRMIRY FROM EXHAUSTION AND SLEEPING FOR 3 DAYS STRAIGHT. I RECALL CAMPERS VICKI DICK AND A GIRL NAMED MALVINA IN THE BUNK.
ANYWAY, I WASN'T TOO TIRED TO FALL IN LOVE. STEVE GREEN WAS HIS NAME. HE WAS THE LIFEGUARD. I DATED STEVE AFTER COMING BACK TO THE CITY AND WERE TOGETHER FOR A WHILE. THEN STUPIDLY, I WOUND UP MARRY THE GUY WHO MY MOTHER SENT ME TO CAMP TO GET AWAY FROM. WE DIVORCED. I AM REMARRIED BUT I OFTEN WONDER ABOUT STEVE. ARE YOU OUT THERE? ALSO, IF ELLEN BRODSKY OR ELLEN KORDICK ARE OUT THERE PLEASE CONTACT ME.
just wanted to say how cool it is to be taking this trip down memory lane. seeing Mendy's pictures puts me right back into bunk 14. i'm really loving it!
Quiet! Quiet! Quiet! Please This brings back so many great memories.I wish the camp was still open and we could all go back one more time. The pictures on this site are great.Hope all of you are healthy and a reunion in Blairstown would be great.
I only went the summer of 1971 and it was the best summer of my young life. Then we moved from NY to NM and now I am in Tennessee. I was stunned when I found this site and my picture in bunk 26. I got the biggest kick. Thanks. Cindy (Schlesinger) Perling

Howdy all! Pressman called and turned me on to the site. Quite awesome. I attended from 1963 to 1972. I was both a camper and waterfront / waterskiing counsler. Anyone out there that I got up on skis? I can still slalom pretty well for an old guy! :) It was pretty intense seeing my photo as a "where are you now" subject. I have forwarded the site to my sister Lisa Ingerman, now Fleischer, Margarette Fried, now Shaferman, Dr.Michael "Ziggy" Zieglebaum, (cousin)Suzanne Silvers, and Mike Rich, who I have asked to pass it on to his sister Allison. I am hoping to hear from everybody, especially the waterfront crew! I am going into hte attic soon. I have already uncovered some artifacts - a Pocono baseball hat (the one in the featured where is this camper now photo) and a signed pillow case. I have bunches of trophies and patches - somewhere. I will take photos and pass them along. June, Scott, Tirsch, Moskowitz,Zellman,William 'Marion" Grundfest and brother Joe. Josh Levenson WHERE ARE YOU??? I last saw you in Madison, Wisconsin in the mid seventies. Hoping to hear and see all. Hey anyone know where ex-waterfront heads Marc and Honey? He drove a Camaro ss/rs convertable. Cannot wait to hear about everybody and get this old man's dusty memory bank back in gear. :)
Camp Pocono ramona was a wonderful place. I remember playing tennis with Davie Greenberg watching him switch hands and confound me. I remember trips to the lake and making out with my college girl friend. I remember running through the rain for a touchdown in the counselors touch football game but most of all I remember a great group of campers many of whom I had for two years who were going through their most important developmental years. I was touched and honored to be their counselor. I hope they benfitted from their summers with me. Ed Piken

my grandmother, who passed on in 2006, and in her 90s and in senile dymensia, would say "pocono ramona" so often, and when she came to clarity, shared little tidbits. Wondering who may have known her: Sally Greenblatt, worked as camp mother, maybe in the late 40s/early 50s. My dad, Neil Greenblatt was a counselor and my aunt, Debby was a camper, I believe. My grandmother then lived in East NY/Brownsville and her father was a rabbi, Gutblatt. I understand the original owner was a Rabbi Herman and wonder if that's her original connection to the camp. Curious if anyone has any information. Would appreciate!
I was a camper and CIT from 1958-1960 for certain and I believe 1961 as well. My name then was Diane Isaacson. My cousins are Martin, Steven and Vicki Dick as well as Robert Dubinsky, who was also a camper in the late fifties. This BlogSpot brings back many memories.

Hi Sandy.
Glad you found us.
Your name looks familiar from a kidscamp.com message you posted earlier in the year.
Send me an e-mail, so I can "Officially" welcome you to the Alumni website and catch you up on what's going on.
There's a few 60's counselors "plugged in" to the site (Hank Snow, Mark Jonas, Myron Weintraub). Are any of those names familiar?
Also Steve Dick (who attended from 1948 - 1971 and may or may not be related to Vicki Dick) is around.
